North Wales

The North of Wales has a mythical quality that embraces the Snowdonia National Park, a ring of coastal fortresses and seaside resorts.  Portmeirion is a particularly special place that replicates an Italianate hillside village by the sea.

Portmeirion - is the fantasy creation of Sir Clough Williams-Ellis that was constructed between 1925 and 1975 near the town of Porthmadog.  His inspiration was Portofino and the hillside villages of the Italian Rivera and this is certainly achieved at Portmeirion on a miniature scale.  On a sunny day the ambiance is breath taking with views across the estuary and Italian ice cream on hand to complete the experience!  A number of television shows used the village as a location and the most famous being The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan, a cult classic of the 1960s which has now spawned an annual festival.  We can arrange accommodation in many of the properties picture above or in the seaside resort of Criccieth.
